Buy A Great Blender Online

By

Blenders are great in the kitchen . . . time savers

I've been researching blenders to find what is available and how they rate. It's interesting to find there are a good many blenders on the market and it becomes quite confusing to figure out which to buy. Vita-Mix is renown to be a good blender but the price is quite a bit higher than most.

I only found two which I could say I would buy.

The first is the Kitchenaid 5-Speed Blender. According to the reviews, it is a very powerful machine which pulverizes ice quickly and mixes lump-free smoothies. It measures 15 x 7 x 9 inches and weighs in at 9.9 pounds. It has a shatter-resistant 56 oz jar and dishwasher safe.

Here's what one reviewer had to say:

"This is an excellent, high-quality blender. We replaced an inexpensive Oster with it and like this KitchenAid much, much more. Things I really like:

1) Power - this blender whips through hard-frozen fruit like nothing is there for wonderful smoothies.
2) Smooth, one piece control panel - makes for super-easy clean-up as there are no cracks or crevices to trap spills. Yet, the buttons behind the panel still have a nice tactile click response so you know you pressed one.
3) Brushed nickel finish - very attractive on your counter.
4) Polycarbonate jar - this worried me when considering this purchase as our old blender had a nice, thick glass jar. But, after using this blender for 3 months, I like this jar better. It is thick, yet lightweight, and hasn't scratched (although I only use rubber or silicone spatulas inside any way).
5) One piece blades & jar - our old blender had a screw-off base, resulting in 4 parts for clean-up - the base, the blade assembly, the jar itself & a rubber gasket. This blender's blades are permanently mounted in the bottom of the jar making for easy clean-up. I either just put it in the dishwasher on the bottom shelf, or I rinse it out, fill it up halfway with warm water & a small squirt of dishwasher detergent and run it on medium for 10 seconds or so.

If you're into crushed ice and smoothie type drinks, this is easily the best one I've found. It reduces ice cubes to a smooth slush in just seconds. The "crush ice" mode pulses on and off to crush the ice quickly and few more seconds at a higher speed smooths it out and adds some air volume. It also looks very sleek, so won't mind leaving it out on your bar or in the kitchen."

Second one that seem to be rated well . . .

The Kalorikc BL Blender was also rated well and considered to be a "Best Buy". However, they are a challenge to find and buy.

It measures 7.25 x 7.25 by 15.5 inches, have 500-watt motor and 50 oz. Jar.

Here is what was said:

"Works great. We make a fruit and yogurt shake every morning and this thing grinds through it. The frozen strawberries and blueberries are no match for the blades. Purchased based on a best buy rating in cook's illustrated and I am glad I did."

"Bought this blender on the Cooks Illustrated recommendation and it is a good blender with a solid glass jar. The rubber gasket between the jar and the blade is almost clear and I lost mine. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the $1.99 gasket would cost over $20 to replace! The Kalorik website only handles minimum of $10 orders so 6 gaskets are the minimum purchase. I decided on an additional blade ($9.99) and 2 gaskets. Shipping for that is $10.85. So it is costing me $24.82 for the $1.99 gasket."

That's it . . .

That's what I found . . . Vita Mix seems to have a lot of power for a lot of bucks. If you want a very good blender at a reasonable price then the Kitchenaid seems to offer the best overall price and performance.

Hope this helps you make your decision. If you have any questions, do contact me. I have my notes on other types I researched.
